Art Discovery Classes for Babies and Children, 6 months to 3 years, passionately taught by Art Educators and Art Professionals!

Classes for 6 – 12 month old babies: (Taught by Tanya Slingsby)

This parent/caregiver/child class is an art discovery series for babies and toddlers.

Children experience colour, colour mixing, texture and more while experimenting with art materials in safe and fun ways.

This series of classes is holiday themed, including ornament creation and holiday masterpieces that parents can display at home or give to loved ones.

Parents/caregivers learn what they can do to help nurture creativity as well as socialize and share with other parents.

Organic edible art materials as well as non toxic, age appropriate materials will be used.

Painted projects will be created inside containers of different shapes and textures to engage the senses and encourage exploration!

Class Fees: PRICE: $78.00 / 5 classes (HST is included)

Classes for 1 – 3 years of age: (Taught by Christine Deckert)

This parent/caregiver/child class is designed for toddlers and preschoolers. Children experience colour, colour mixing, textures and more while

experimenting hands on with art materials in fun and inspiring ways. This series of classes is holiday themed, including ornament creation and making

first ‘masterpieces’ parents can display at home or give to loved ones. Parents/caregivers learn what they can do to help nurture creativity as well as

socialize and share with other parents/caregivers. All art materials are non-toxic and age appropriate.

This program is intended to foster and develop toddler’s creativity and exploration, in a safe, fun environment!

Class Fees: PRICE: $78.00 / 5 classes (HST is included)

Wed – Feb 25th to Feb 22nd,10:00 -11:00 AM, 6mos – 1YR (Slingsby), 3:00- 4:00 PM, 1-2 YR (Slingsby)

Thur -  Feb 26th to Feb 23rd, 2:00 – 3:00 PM 2-3 YR (Deckert)

About Christine Deckert:

Christine was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1976. She received her B.F.A in 2000, and completed her B.Ed with a specialization in art in 2003. For nearly a decade, Christine has been working as a BC certified art specialist in both public and private school systems. As well as sharing her passion for art with students of all ages, Christine is a practicing artist whose main area of focus is acrylic painting. Her paintings have been featured in ‘Style at Home’ magazine, and are sold internationally and locally. Christine is a proud new mom to a beautiful little girl named Sienna, who is her constant source of inspiration and joy.

About Tanya Slingsby:

Tanya completed her Bachelors Degree with Honours in Fine Arts and History of Art at the University of Victoria and holds a Masters Degree in Aesthetics and History of Art by scholarship from the University of Sussex, UK.

Since 2002, she has focused solely on abstraction in painting, creating visual discourses on primordial and ethereal states in nature and the human condition. Using a formalist approach, Slingsby explores the energetic and emotional interplay of colour, texture and surface. Each work is a meditative addition and subtraction, layering polymer resin, pigment and encaustic ‘mis en plat’.

An established artist with international representation, Tanya has focused on abstract painting and sculpture since 2002. She became a mother in 2010 and has over 200 hours experience working with children through Parks and Recreation programming.
