“Me? Paint?!”:
Personal Expression through Abstract Acrylic Painting
Weekend Workshop (Beginners)
March 10 – 11th, Sat -10 am to 4 pm, Sun – 10 am – 3 pm,
$275 (Student Supplies Materials)
$400 (Materials Included)

This course is for those who have always wanted to paint in the abstract genre but don’t know where to start. This is a materials and process-focused introduction for beginners: no experience necessary!

Day One is an introduction to art materials as well as the properties and handling of acrylics paints and mediums. There will be hands-on exercises and will begin a small canvas to finish on Day Two.

Day Two explores techniques and handling in more details (including varnishing) as well as the essentials of composition, representation, balance, colour and form in painting. We will also discuss the oftentimes intimidating realm of ‘content’ in painting: emotional, conceptual, spontaneous and experimental while painting and finishing our canvases.

This workshop introduces students to painting materials and techniques to help them connect to their own creativity and perceptions by way of self expression through painting. Students will paint with acrylics and acrylic mediums.

* Deadline to register is Monday, March 5th, 2012. There are limited spaces in this workshop so please register early to ensure you have a place.
