Hubert Kang

Made in Taiwan, assembled in Canada, and reprogrammed in the UK, Hubert Kang is a documentary photographer whose work tells stories in a beautiful and lyrical visual language. He is attracted to energy, forms, light, and raw emotions. His philosophy "you photograph what you are", along with his life experience growing up with Eastern and Western influences, allow him to portray stories with an authentic and unique point of view.

His body of work "Detour" shown in the exhibition is a project thataims to document mens' relationship with their city environment. Through sports, these urbanites present their points of view and ways of interacting with urban terrain and architecture. It is a celebration of people using body movements to engage with their city, and re-image the landscape with life and energy.
